History of Our School
The construction of our school began in 1967 led by Turgutlu branch of İlim Yayma Society. The construction was completed in 1970 thanks to the efforts of the district mufti Ali Şükrü SULA and help from the charitable people of our district. The completed building had 4 floors and 12 classrooms. However, due to various reasons, the building could not be used for education. It was used as a dormitory for students who were in need of help in Turgutlu. The manager of the dormitory was Ali Rıza TEMEL, who was well known in Turgutlu and beyond.
Education started at our school in 1974-1975 academic year. The first headmaster of the school was Celal CEYLAN. 190 students from the district and nearby regions enrolled for the first year. The first student to enroll in our school was Ali SÜZER from the village of İzzettin.
Gündüz SEVİLGEN, a deputy of Manisa, Senator Orhan SÜERSAN, and Manager of the High Institute of Islam Necati ÇERÇİOĞLU participated in the opening ceremony of our school along with valuable people of our district. M. Naci ARICI was assigned as a headmaster in 1975.
As the existing building was unable to meet the need, construction of an extension started in 1975 again led by Turgutlu branch of İlim Yayma Society. The construction was completed with the support of our charitable people in 1980. There were 5 floors and 24 classrooms, which made a total of 36 classrooms.
Now deceased Dursun SAVCI was assigned as the new headmaster in 1987. A state free dormitory was opened in 1988 within the school.
Benefactor Arif CANPOYRAZ had a practice mosque built in 1989.
The number of the students exceeded a thousand in 1995; thus the building was unable to meet the need again. The foundation of the extension, which is now being used as Turgutlu İmam Hatip Middle School, was laid led by Turgutlu branch of İlim Yayma Society. However, the construction was never completed. Then, one of the benefactors in Turgutlu, Niyazi ÜZMEZ undertook the construction and it was completed within a short period.
Anatolian part was opened in our school in 2006-2007 academic year. Middle school was opened in 2012-2013 academic year. This part was separated as Turgutlu İmam Hatip Middle School in 2013-2014 academic year.
In 2008, the headmaster of the school Dursun SAVCI passed away and İbrahim GÜRLER was assigned as the new headmaster. He carried out his duty until his retirement in July 2018. The new headmaster was Varol ÖZTÜRK, who is still in this position.
